Helen North-Root has over 20 years of experience in product
safety evaluation and compliance, including toxicology and risk
assessment. For ten years she was Director of Product Safety and
Regulatory Affairs for The Dial Corp, a consumer products company with
over $1 billion in sales. A widely recognized expert, Dr. North-Root
has focused on assessing and managing safety, health and government
regulatory issues in North America.
Dr. North-Root's extensive training and experience qualify her
to assist clients with safety and regulatory issues related to
pharmaceuticals, over-the-counter drugs, cosmetics, cleaning products,
pesticides and their contaminants; risk assessment and risk
communication; product labeling and advertising claims; and technical
support for federal, state and local legislative and regulatory
initiatives.
Dr. North-Root received a B.S. degree in Biological Sciences
from the University of California at Davis and a Ph.D. degree in
Comparative Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of
California at San Francisco. She is a member of the Society of
Toxicology and Roundtable of Toxicology Consultants and is a diplomate
of the American Board of Toxicology.
Dr. North-Root chaired the Pharmacology/ Toxicology Committee
of the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CTFA) and the Risk
Assessment Subcommittee of the Soap and Detergent Association (SDA).
Other affiliations included the CTFA Scientific Advisory Committee, the
SDA Biomedical Research Committee and the Chemical Specialties
Manufacturers Association Scientific Affairs and Environmental Labeling
Committees.
